Do you feel DUMB, When it comes to learning new things?

Have you ever engaged in a professional service because you were not educated in the matter and wanted to learn more? but felt like you walked away with less knowledge, completely deflated and Dumb because the instructor/coach/teacher pulled you down so much that you just felt like a failure?

Did you know this is not a reflection on you but the lowest form of reflection on them, when it comes to many industries of training and education it’s the task of the teacher to inspire and direct you to success and not set you up to fail, if they cannot portray the information to their clientele then they don’t have the ability to teach.

Many think they can teach because they are experienced and trained in their area of expertise gaining successful results to their industry standards however they fail to realize that Teaching is not as easy as everyone thinks as your teaching someone else to do what they don’t know (reason for obtaining the services in the first place) and as everyone learns and a different pace for many reasons life experience, previous education, confidence etc.

it’s the responsibility of the teacher to be empathetic and understanding at the same time a disciplined and maintaining good structure. Which in today’s world with the high levels of entitlement many people do not have the ability to maintain high levels of discipline and structure to further their education making teaching harder and harder. One main reason most people want to learn in the most minimal time possible but still be successful.

Over my years I’ve taught a lot and seen so many others teach, coach and instruct beside me fail because they don’t have the ability to teach, they are unable to accept the main principles of responsibility to the tasks required to educate and commonly will blame the student instead of take charge for their own lack of ability. Saying this I hope I’ve not lost you but the most common practice of poor teaching is also incorrect criticism by

1. Comparing the student’s skill to their own capabilities

2. Only providing negative feedback

3. Only instructing based on mistakes.

4. Unable to inspire

5. set reasonable achievable goals in their structure of education.

6. They don’t have a structure and discipline themselves.

So if you are taking a swimming class, sewing lesson, dance class, horse riding lesson or some personal training its never to late to try a different teacher/coach/instructor before you give up.
